Established in 2021, the Chieri Textile Museum Shuttle Award is bestowed every year by the Fondazione Chierese per il Tessile e per il Museo del Tessile.
The award consists of a bronze medal cast by sculptor Antonio Saluzzi.
The recipients of this prize collect it personally and exhibit their work in Chieri.
Golden Shuttle – Lifetime Achievement Award for well-known artists who distinguished themselves with their textile artworks, even within the framework of a diverse production, over a period of at least twenty years.
Silver Shuttle – Award for distinguished artists whose work, including drawings, paintings, mosaic, sculptures, engravings and other, mirrors the world of textiles while showing originality, masterly execution, and aesthetic value.
Copper Shuttle – Award for artists who have distinguished themselves in reinterpreting and updating traditional textile techniques or designs in contemporary textile artefacts through innovation in materials, technique, form, and poetics.
Bronze Shuttle – Award for artists who distinguished themselves in combining the performing arts with textile arts.
Rainbow Shuttle – Award for artists who distinguished themselves in combining multimedia and/or multisensory languages with textile arts.
Bestowed in praise of his masterful rendering of the world of textiles and fashion through photography and film. With these new media, he has been able to grasp and interpret materials, structures and aesthetic values of the weaving process as well as the creation of fashion items. By revealing the allure of precious materials and workmanship, he has enhanced the aesthetics, charm and fineness of textiles.
Bestowed to a talented young artist who has stood out for reinterpreting traditional textile techniques and designs while innovating them on the contemporary art scene.
